OVERVIEW

I was tasked with creating content for a product onboarding experience. This would show up for new users once they log in to the product for the first time. I ensured the language was brief, but powerful.

THE USER PROBLEMS

  • Users have un-activated features in their accounts and aren't receiving full value of product
  • Users don't know what to do when they land in the product after signing up

THE CHALLENGES

  • Create an onboarding experience that requires no dev work by leveraging Pendo
  • Limiting the number of screens as to not overwhelm the user
  • Provide an actionable step at the end

THE PROCESS

I partnered with the Product Designer to understand the problem we were trying to solve with the onboarding experience. The strategy with content was to keep every step brief and to-the-point, but still guiding users at the end to take an actionable next step (enter personal information). The tone is direct, yet friendly and offers users a quick tour of what they see as soon as they log in.

We deployed the onboarding experience in Pendo, which allowed us to make changes on the fly and continue to iterate without dev resources.
